2006-10-14: The UK Terror plot: what's really going on?

None of the alleged terrorists had made a bomb. None had bought a plane ticket. Many did not even have passports, which given the efficiency of the UK Passport Agency would mean they couldn't be a plane bomber for quite some time.

In the absence of bombs and airline tickets, and in many cases passports, it could be pretty difficult to convince a jury beyond reasonable doubt that individuals intended to go through with suicide bombings, whatever rash stuff they may have bragged in internet chat rooms.

What is more, many of those arrested had been under surveillance for over a year - like thousands of other British Muslims. And not just Muslims. Like me. Nothing from that surveillance had indicated the need for early arrests.

(..)

We then have the extraordinary question of Bush and Blair discussing the possible arrests over the weekend. Why? I think the answer to that is plain. Both in desperate domestic political trouble, they longed for "Another 9/11". The intelligence from Pakistan, however dodgy, gave them a new 9/11 they could sell to the media. The media has bought, wholesale, all the rubbish they have been shovelled.

2006-10-11: When Terror Imitates the Soda Commercial

(..) ", as of Thursday, stations were still running the Sierra Mist ad in which Kathy Griffin and Jim Gaffigan play airport security agents who pretend that their handheld metal detectors are being set off by Michael Ian Black's soda bottle-so they can confiscate it and drink it themselves."

The Metropolitan Police's anti-terrorist branch and security service in London claimed that a terrorist plot to detonate bombs on nine planes travelling mid-air from the United Kingdom to the United States had been thwarted.

Norwegian press immediately reportet that up to 20 aircraft were to ble blown up. (2006-10-08: 21 tatt - to på frifot).

Fear-commercials

This plot is yet another "terror-conspiracy" in a long chain of well-staged PR campaigns for the Blair-regime in the UK.

Such "plots" receive enormous coverage in the media and are good tyranny-commercials. The "evidence" proves to be nothing but hog-wash every single time and the "accused" always turn out to be innocent, or at best patsies.

Such "plots" get enormous coverage in the "news" and get fat bold letters on the front of all newspapers, and the actors on the television "news" look you in the eye and tell you that "another tragedy" is avoided thanks to tyrannical measures, and that we all must give up more liberties for promised security.

Then, 2 months later, they quietly announce that oh, it was all fake, the people arrested had done nothing, and the hole plot was just a staged PR event.

Forget the real war

Such plots just happen to be exposed when other real tragedies, like the 2006 Invasion of Lebanon, are going on - for two reasons: a) justify a unjust war and b) take attention away from real issues.

"Al-Qaida"

2006-10-06: British Seek to Keep Suspects in Custody Halfway around the world, investigations continued in Pakistan, where authorities held 17 people, including British citizen Rashid Rauf, who they said has al-Qaida connections and was a key player in the plot.

The "plot" was, as always, connected to Al-Qaida ("a manufactured enemy who was created by the Bush Administration in order to have an excuse to wage a war" - +)...

Que Bono

2006-10-06: British Seek to Keep Suspects in Custody British investigators headed to a closed-door hearing Wednesday to argue that suspects arrested in an alleged plot to blow up as many as 10 trans-Atlantic jetliners should be kept in custody without charge.

(..)

Anti-terror laws passed after the July 7, 2005, London transit bombings give the government up to four weeks to hold suspects without charge, but they must periodically go before a judge to make a case for continued confinement. The accused person is represented by lawyers and does not appear in court.

The "investigators" apparently view that the tyrannical laws passed under the pretext of the London-bombings, done by MI6, give them too much trouble. Think about it! Having to go to court every for weeks to justify the holding of innocent people! It would have been better if these scapegoats could be shot on sight, wouldn't it?
